Wow, when I first viewed this page I giggled and a little tinge of excitement raced through me. I took a deep breath and relaxed thinking, that was a massive step forward in designing my happy new year 2016. Exciting things were also taking place in the John Maxwell Team which I had signed up to become a member of.
The idea of a “Branded Me” scared me a little but I was inspired by the people I find myself working with and the final push came from Scott Dinsmore who sadly passed away in a tragic accident earlier last year: In a way this is a tribute to him and what I learned over at Live your Legend where he, now Chelsea, his widow, encourages people to write and tell their story in a blog.
Another mentor, Jim Rohn also had a lot to do with motivating me. While listening to one of his motivational talks he asks listeners to ponder 4 things about successful living. “Always ask “Why?” he said. That’s always a good question to ask but the best answer to that is “Why not”? Then ask yourself “Why not YOU?” and “Why not NOW?”
So a big WOW for WHY NOT NOW and what a way to start 2016. As you read this I am also wondering, “What you’re thinking?” Should I be concerned about that? I think it’s just a normal response to being a little nervous about my first ever blog post. I am consoled by the fact that family, close friends and business associates who’ve checked it out so far, thought it was a good idea.
I am also super excited for what is in store for me and my family in 2016. I hope you’re as excited as I we are. I recently posted to my facebook page that the beginning of a new year is an ideal time to make changes. It is also another opportunity to start again on a clean slate, a blank page, and live life to the full as we never know what the next year will bring to us. Lean it, Live it and Lead it because most people are more willing to welcome new ideas and suggestions at this time of the year. It’s a great moment to seize an opportunity. I’ve done that and hope to continue to do so throughout this year.
My hope is that my life, my blogging, the resources and what I do through the work I love, will help you and others dream, learn and live out the values and ideas that you hold close to your hearts. The motto that is closest to our hearts in the Lloyd family, is simply; Live, Love and Laugh, yes, and at all the past mistakes we’ve made too.
A friend sent me this text at the beginning of the year just before I wrote this and if I haven’t already personally wished a happy new year, here it is…
“Oh my Dear, Forget your Fear, Let all Your Dreams be Clear, Never put Tear, Please Hear, I Tell one Thing in Your Ear, Have a Happy New Year.”
When I received this I was reminded of another quote by Jim Rohn,
“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.”
Go for it… and get to “designing your happy new year”.
