During my travels with my lovely wife and family, to the many countries we have visited over the years, I have been fortunate to have had experiences that most people find unbelievable when I talk about them. However, one habit has changed my life in a way that is hard to explain – Gratitude!
The world has become a different place for me than what I was taught at school. I was raised in Colonial Africa but my worldview has changed and the world we live in now is constantly changing. Seemingly faster and faster in this crazy Internet Information Age in which we now live. Industrial is out and Information is in!
It’s funny but life often alters our dreams. As if providence had other ideas of how we should get there. Destiny plans another route and turns our dreams around, like a riddle, and fulfills our dream in a way we never expected
It’s what I often refer to as capitalising on disappointments. We all face storms in the journey of life, some almost too hard to bear, but bear them we do. Nevertheless, in hindsight we are usually grateful because we learn in the process of life, something beautiful, and wisdom knocks on the door. Gratitude accepts, opens the door and lets in a wonderful friend.
My decision to go independant 2 years ago was probably the scariest thing I have done in the last 15 years. Imagine this… no more steady paychecks, no retirement plans or health benefits, no more paid vacations or paid sick days off work… although I haven’t had many sick days in the last 5 years thanks to JuicePlus, but I have to admit, and you too, the world has and is changing.
One thing I have had to embrace more than anything during this transition must be the power of the Internet
You can learn anything anytime as there is so much information available. Teachers from all over the world can now come right into your own home and teach you just about anything you want to learn! Honestly I am really grateful to all those who have taught me what I know today through the internet.
My computer and the internet has helped me transition from employee to entrepreneur. My computer runs most of my business systems. I do most of my communicating, marketing and business through email and social media. I have tools for accounting and access to legal advice. I can search the world for anything I want, anytime I want. It’s a massive investment of time and money that is essential for survival in this information age.
It’s amazing, it’s wonderful, but it’s still just a tool, it’s not the brain behind what I or you will do with the Internet. You still need to use your brains and give leadership.
That’s what I love doing… and that’s also thanks to Brian, Adam, Justice and many other people, Hannah and Lena too with life changing educational programs and all those who work in our different teams to make life fun and worthwhile. Thank You everyone…
On a final note, thanks to those who have supported me through the weeks after the loss of my Father. I will be forever grateful for all he was to me and for all that he imparted to me and many others. He was an amazing person with incredible gifts.
As I reflect on past memories my heart is filled with Gratitude!
Other things may change us but we start and end with Family!
